It's been a while since i've written so i'm goig to drop a quick update from my restless mind... I decided to attempt my "walk to the beach" again.  last year i made it from tehachapi to maricopa before my foot decided it would't let me walk on it anymore. so on october 8th i will be heading out to try this once again and i'm excited. Why am i walking?  to be quite honest, because i want to.  I will also be pledging $1 per mile to www.teamrubiconusa.org I joined this team after the tornado in washington IL last year and pledged the same amount from last years walk.  however since i didn't make it all the way i pledged $3 per mile.  feel free to pledge or donate with me.  I just recently finished my training for the team and am now deployable.  i'm excited to actually get to work with them one day.  unfortunately that requires a disaster to respond too. I'm asking for help with the next two big adventures that are coming up.  this walk and then the bicycle ride i am taking in november with https://www.facebook.com/jemills he is doing this ride as a welcome…

Check out the photos, here. On June 7, 2014 the team and I headed to Monterey, CA. for the Spartan Beast a 12+ mile race with 25+ obstacles that will test your will. On this race we brought 2 new athletes Steven and Larisa, both had no idea what they were about to get into as this was their first Spartan Beast. Even though it kicked their asses they had a blast and now they…

Photos from the Atlas Race Atlas Race is new to this OCR scene and with their 2nd event being held at Temecula Ca., these guys are heading in the right direction as the big guys such as Spartan Race and Tough Mudder.  The creators did an excellent job utilizing the venue as much as they can. They had two different courses marked with red and yellow flags. The yellow represented the 3-5 mile course and…

Spartan Race has held the sprint at Malibu, Ca. for several years, but on this day they decided to have it at Temecula, CA - Vail Lake Resort. Vail Lake Resort has held numerous of OCR events at their location and I was actually looking forward for this particular race. What makes the event different among everyone else's is how they utilize their venue. I've seen some of the best obstacle setups and some of…

I've been doing these obstacle course race events for quite some time now. They are fun, challenging and a cool place to hang out at but what makes it more eventful are the ones that not only cater to adults but for kids too.  This year I started off with one of the Spartan Race series, the Spartan Sprint. Held at Temecula, CA. I not only signed myself up, but I decided to let my…

Bridge to Nowhere (BTN) has to be one of my favorite trails to either hike or run. 10 miles round trip, 900' elevation gain and so diverse from stream crossings, to scalling hills, running on sand, rock hopping and so much more.  On this day we had a good crowd with us, the original gang with a handful of newbies. We started off at 7am on a cold morning which later became hot once the…

The million dollar question… It started out as a need to escape, a need for a personal challenge, a mid life crisis of sorts (probably the truth) if I really wanted to analyze it. I’m trying to fool myself by saying I am trying to re-define myself. I’m wanting to run away. The stress of real life isn’t all I hoped for when I imagined myself as the future me. So what does a guy…
